Velankanni Mata Church
Located in Nagapattinam district, Velankanni Mata Temple is one of the famous pilgrimage destinations. Every year Velankanni festival is celebrated with great pomp. In view of this, Southern Railway will run special trains so that devotees can easily reach Velankanni.
Velankanni Cathedral Festival
Velankanni Church is one of the largest Catholic pilgrimage churches in the country. The flag hoisting ceremony at Velankanni Matha Temple starts on 29th August every year. The festival will be celebrated till the eighth of September.
Velankanni Special Trains
Accordingly, this year, the festival will begin with flag hoisting at the Velankanni Mata temple on August 29. Lakhs of people from different regions come to participate in the festival here. On behalf of the Southern Railway, special trains will be run at Velankanni during the festival season.
Thiruvananthapuram Velankanni Special Train
In that way, special trains have been announced on the occasion of Velankanni Matha Temple festival. Accordingly, Southern Railway Trichy Division has announced that festival special trains will be operated between Thiruvananthapuram – Velankanni.
Thiruvananthapuram Central
21st, 28th August and 4th September from Thiruvananthapuram Central
The special train (car no.06115) departs at 3.25 pm and reaches Velankanni at 3.55 am the next day.
This special train (car no.06116) will depart from Velankanni at 7.10 pm and reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 6.55 am the next day on August 22nd, 29th and September 5th respectively.
Stopping stations
It has been informed that this special train will stop at Neiyatinkarai, Kulithurai, Ranial, Nagercoil Town, Tirunelveli, Valliyur, Kovilpatti, Virudhunagar, Chatur, Dindigul, Madurai, Trichy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam railway stations. Booking is in progress.
