Vembakkottai Phase 3 Excavation
While antiquities are being found in the 3rd phase of excavation in Vembakottai, Virudhunagar district, now a clay bull figurine has been found.

The 3rd phase of excavation work is being carried out in Vembakottai, Virudhunagar.
Also, the 10th phase of excavation is going on at Keezadi, Kontakhai.

The first phase of excavation at Vembakottai took place in 2022. Excavation works were carried out in the north bank of Vaipat to find out the history of the ancient people who lived about 5,000 years ago.

Antique rare items
Excavations in 2 phases at Vembakottai unearthed various rare items. 7914 artifacts found. Evidence of sea trade through the glass bead industry, Sangu Bangal, Vaiparu has been found.

A stone pendant
Following this, the 3rd phase of excavation at Vembakottai started on June 18. Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the excavation work in a video presentation.

A flint woman’s headdress, a chess-playing ram, a silhouette, a flint lamp, a conch bangle, a black flint pendant, and a flint pendant were found in the excavation.

Bull figurine
Meanwhile, Saturday’s excavation has unearthed ancient artifacts such as a broken flint bull figurine, a smoker, a decorated flint bell and a flint earring.

Earlier bull effigy with more than 10 tamils ​​in two phases of excavation
have been found. At this stage, one more bull figurine has been found. Archeology department officials say that it seems that Jallikattu competitions were given importance.
