Bakrit festival is going to be celebrated on 14th June. In view of this, business was built in the weekly goat markets all over Tamil Nadu.
Goat market
Veypur goat market of Cuddalore district is held every week on Friday. Accordingly, a goat market was held today on the occasion of Bakrit festival.
Goat sale
Traders from various districts like Perambalur, Kallakurichi Salem, Dindigul, Theni and farmers from Veypur and surrounding areas thronged the goat market. Sales were brisk.
Goat price
Many types of goats like vellad, Kurumpadu, Kodiyadu, Maladu etc. cost Rs. 5 thousand to Rs. Up to 37 thousand were sold in the market. It is said that all the goats for sale have been sold out.
Rs. 10 crore for sale
A total of around Rs. Traders say that more than 10 crore goats have been sold.
