Chennai: 42 students of Tamil Nadu, who were unable to return to their homeland due to the Bangladesh agitation, arrived at the Chennai airport today with the help of the government.
In Bangladesh, the country’s government brought an amendment to provide 30 percent reservation to the descendants of those who participated in the country’s freedom struggle. The students of the country protested against it. More than 100 students died in the resulting violence. All the colleges were closed.
As a result, Indian students who were studying in Bangladesh were unable to return home. The respective college administrations dropped the students at the Bangladesh – India border. The students from there crossed the border and came to West Bengal last week.
Students of Tamil Nadu who took refuge in West Bengal released a video asking for help from the Tamil Nadu government. Following this, Tamil Nadu Foreign Affairs Minister Senji Mastan said that the Tamil Nadu government has taken action to rescue the students who were affected by the Bangladesh riots and were unable to return to their homeland.
As a result of the subsequent efforts, 42 Tamil Nadu students arrived at the Chennai airport today. Government officials including Minister Senji Mastan welcomed them. This information was mentioned in a PTI news note.
