In 2019, the central BJP government abrogated Article 370, which gave special status to Kashmir. After the political parties and public protested against this, Governor’s rule was implemented there and then President’s rule was introduced.
Due to this, the whole of Kashmir came under the control of the army. The abrogation of Article 370 gave the military more powers there. Due to this, even the police have to ask the army to take decisions on some matters.
In order to keep the situation like this, the police raided the house of a soldier living in the area yesterday in connection with a drug smuggling case in Kupwara area. Before conducting a raid on a soldier’s house, formal permission must be obtained from the army. But the police carried out the raid without any permission.
In this case, the concerned soldier told his fellow soldiers about this. Enraged by this, the soldiers trespassed into the Kupwara police station this morning and assaulted the policemen including the inspector and sub-inspector there with their hands. 4 policemen were seriously injured. After that, the public there rescued the 4 policemen and admitted them to the hospital. In this case, when asked about this from the army spokesperson, he said that he has not received any information about this incident.
