When is Aadi Pooram 2024? What are the rituals of marriage ban, child endowment?

When do we celebrate Aadi Pooram, when the Pooram Nakshatra coincides with the month of Aadi month, that day is celebrated as Aadi Pooram. On the day of Aadi Pooram, the ceremony of closing the bow to the goddess is done in a grand manner in all the temples. It is believed that bowing to the goddess will bring many benefits in life.

Pooram Nakshatra is the birth star of Andal, one of the 12 Alvars in Vaishnavism. Aadi Pooram is also celebrated as Andal Jayanti as it is the day of Andal’s incarnation. Andal Jayanti is celebrated for 10 days in Aadipuram at Andal Temple in Srivilliputhur. If you visit Andal Golam on 10th day, unmarried women will get rid of marriage bar. Those who are childless will be blessed with children. It is believed that separated husband and wife will be reunited.

Generally, for married women who are pregnant, the arching event takes place in the 5th month. Accordingly, it is believed that all deities were married in Panguni order. In the 5th month after the marriage, the Amman is believed to be pregnant and in the month of Aadi, the bowing takes place.

Before Aadi Puram, buy a bangle and give it to the goddess temple, if you buy and wear the bangle worn by the goddess on Aadi Puram, the marriage ban will be removed and the marriage will take place soon. Such special Mikhu Aadi Pooram falls on Wednesday 7th August this year i.e. 22nd of Adi month. Pooram Nakshatra starts exactly on 6th August i.e. 21st of Adi month, Tuesday at 5.43 PM. This Pooram Nakshatra ends on August 7 at 8.30 pm.

The best time to perform worship on the day of Aadi Pooram is to do it while taking a bath. On 7th August from 10.48 AM to 12.27 PM during the bath time you can worship the goddess Velabhooti during this time. If this pooja is performed, the marriage barrier will be removed and the marriage will take place soon. If you get a child, you will get good results. Similarly, if worship is not done during the bathing time, then Rahukalam and Emakandam times should be avoided and baby shower worship can be done at other times in this Aadi Pooram.
