“It was Mrs. Margaret Thatcher, the former prime minister of Britain, who introduced the open economy to the world. The world applauded her for that. But that economy was introduced to Sri Lanka by JR. President Jayawardena before Thaher. But he was not even allowed to maintain the open economy,” said Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara.
The challenge before everyone is to take the country to the top and all parties have come together to overcome that challenge, the Minister said while participating in the ‘Jayagamu Sri Lanka – Smart Youth Club’ program held on Saturday (11) at the Angunakolapalassa Prison Stadium premises.
Minister of State for Power and Energy D.V. Chanaka, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera while addressing the assembly which was attended by political representatives, the Minister said:
“We don’t have jobs, we can’t start a business. It’s difficult. These are what we have in mind, aren’t we. There are actually many jobs in the country, but we are not suitable for them. Even if there are advertisements in the newspaper about private jobs, we cannot go for those jobs because qualifications are required ffor those jobs.. If you think about the tourism industry, We don’t have money, we don’t have experience, we have to develop our human capital go to the new world
How do we start when we are in trouble? To change this we have to start somewhere. A year ago, there was a popular slogan that we need not all 225 in parliment . Finally we got into big trouble after campaigning to say need not all 225. After that, facing a big crisis, many people did not accept when asked to take over the responsible of country.

The country fell. The country lost oil, medicine, gas and medicine. There is no record of how many mothers and fathers died without medicine. I was confused about taking on the challenge. migrant people to send the money to the mother land. We said that this situation will occur in late 2019 or early 2020. Then the country came to trouble. What we should do is not shout. We started working. Many people fled when there was a crisis in the country.
When our country was on fire, the youth of the country started fleeing and leaving the country. When the country is on fire, we should join together to put out the fire. There, ideas were formed to leave the country. Some are got caught in the Dubai scams , So then we made the advertisement about ‘Visit Visa’ for educate the comunity. Then the dollars started coming. Worked to change labour laws for us. A separate gate called hope gate was opened at the airport and a pension was given. Migrant workers were supported.
United National Party was replaced by United National People. The ‘Garusaru’ program was created. We only have ourselves. We remember that they worked to create problems between nations by calling them sterile Koththu and bras. But, we made the program that we should come together without caste discrimination. Smart Youth was formed to strengthen the team to take over the future country.
We are now changing the country together with the decisions taken by Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe. But we didn’t read the bragging. Look at those braggarts in the villages. They say they are doing business. But never doing business. See the situation before Corona. One ”Kainayake” says that phones cannot go to new brands. The world economic crisis came with Corona. The world fell apart. A part of it also came to Sri Lanka.
