From last May 2:
The Railway Board approved the extension of the Chennai Beach-Vellore passenger train up to Tiruvannamalai in response to the request. Following this, the daily train service from Chennai beach to Thiruvannamalai started from last 2nd.
This train will depart Chennai Beach at 6 PM and reach Thiruvannamalai at 12.05 AM. On the reverse route, it will depart from Thiruvannamalai at 4 AM the next day and reach Chennai Beach at 9.50 AM. The fare for this train to Thiruvannamalai from Chennai is fixed at Rs.50.
An overwhelming welcome:
This train has now received a good reception among the common middle class people as well as commuters and traders. Also, all the coaches are crowded as all the parties like pilgrims going to Thiruvannamalai temple and passengers going to various towns are using this train.
Main demand of passengers:
Passengers have reported that some facilities are lacking in this train and they are facing difficulties due to this. Regarding this they said, “Chennai Coast to Tiruvannamalai train service is very useful for pilgrims going to Tiruvannamalai.
This train is crowded daily. But there is no toilet facility in this train. If one day trains have toilet facility, the next day trains do not have toilet facility. Therefore, they have demanded that daily trains should have toilet facilities and new trains should be run from South Chennai to Tiruvannamalai.
