Wakf Board Bill
The Waqf Board Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha yesterday. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijju tabled it in the House. With the introduction of this bill, non-Muslims and women are allowed to be included as members of the Waqf Board in the future. It also allows for transparent management of the power and assets belonging to the board from the hands of the board to the hands of the rulers.

So the opposition MPs protested against the tabling of the Waqf Board Bill. However, the Wakfu Board Bill was passed amid clamor and confusion. Following this, Tamil Nadu MP Opposition parties including Kanimozhi, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi had registered their opposition to the Waqf Board Bill. Union Minister Kiran Rijiju proposed a 31-member Joint Parliamentary Committee to re-examine the newly tabled Waqf Board Bill amid strong opposition. Accordingly, the list includes Jakthambika Paul, Nishikant Dubey, Desjaswi Surya, Aparajitha Sarangi, Sanjay Jaiswal, Dilip Saikia, Abhijith Gangopadhyay, D.K. 21 members including Aruna, Gaurav Gogoi, Imran Masood, Mohammad Javed, Mohipullah, Kalyan Banerjee, Ah Raza, Lavoo Krishna Devarayaloo, Arvind Sawant and Asaduddin Owaisi and 10 members from Rajya Sabha have been selected.
Re-inspection report
The committee has been directed to study the Waqf Board Amendment Bill and submit a report by the end of next week’s Parliament session. This group objected to the Wakfu Board Bill. As the Bs are in the majority, there is a possibility that the Waqf Board Bill will be amended if the re-examination report is favorable to them. Informed sources said that there is a possibility of repealing the new bill if necessary.
