To celebrate 30 years since the Splendor model was first launched last week, Hero launched the Splendor Plus XTec 2.0 bike model in a new dual-tone color with a host of features. The Xtec 2.0 model has been launched as a 100cc commuter bike full of technical features at a price of Rs.83,000. Which bikes are available in the market to compete with this bike and what are their features?
100cc Bikes for Sale in India:
Honda sells the Shine 100 and Bajaj the Platina to compete with the Splendor. The Shine 100 is being sold at a price of Rs 65,000, which is Rs 18,000 less than the Splendor Plus model which has been introduced with tech facilities. The Platina 100 is being sold at a price of Rs 68,000 which is Rs 3,000 more.
Splendor vs Shine vs Platina: Engine
Without any of these tech features, the Splendor base model is priced at Rs 73,000. Hero is selling the HF Deluxe model under Rs.60,000. Engines are almost balanced in all the bikes.
The Splendor’s 97.2cc engine produces 7.91hp of power. The Shine’s 98.98cc engine is capable of producing 7.28hp of power. The Platina’s 102cc engine churns out 7.79hp of power.
Splendor vs Shine vs Platina: Mileage
Among these three 100cc bikes, the Splendor has the highest mileage. The Splendor returns a mileage of 73 kmpl with the help of its Start/Stop feature. The Platina comes second with a mileage of 70 kmpl and the Shine comes last with a mileage of just 55 kmpl.

The Platina has the longest wheelbase of the three bikes at 1,255. But the heaviest bike is the Platina. It weighs 117 kg. The Shine weighs the least of the three at 99 kg. The Splendor weighs 112 kg. Also, the Splendor is the only practical bike with a luggage rack facility.
Splendor vs Shine vs Platina: Brakes and Tyres
The Splendor is the only one of these three bikes to have tubeless tires. The other two bikes have tube tyres. Also, while the other two bikes get 17-inch alloy wheels, the Splendor gets 18-inch alloy wheels. Drum brakes are provided on all three bikes and two wheelers. However, the Splendor gets a larger 130mm drum brake at the rear wheel. Both the other bikes get smaller 110mm drum brakes.
Splendor vs Shine vs Platina: Other features
Among the three bikes, the Splendor is definitely the most technologically advanced. No other company has released a unique variant with more features. Since it is the best-selling bike in the 100cc commuter segment and to provide premium features to the basic bike customers, Hero has provided features like LED lights, digital display, Bluetooth connectivity, call/SMS alert and Type-C charging port in the Splendor Plus XTec models, which are only available in more expensive bikes.
These features justify the extra cost of the bike. Also, Hero is also selling the basic Splendor Plus model for those who don’t want any of these features, and a low-cost bike is enough.
