Tooth decay can be seen in everyone from children to adults. This damage to healthy teeth can lead to cavities, pain, sores, infections, and tooth loss. A natural tooth can be saved if detected and treated at the right time. But understanding the stages of tooth decay can help detect and treat symptoms before decay gets worse, says dental therapist Dr. Imran, MDS, Blue Dental.
Why do cavities occur?
Symptoms of tooth decay are cavity-like cavities inside a tooth rather than between the teeth. Just like how a termite gets inside and causes an itch, the tooth also gets a hole inside. If a tooth breaks, a hole will appear in that place. But most of the time it is the property that causes the hole. A cavity is a symptom of tooth decay.
Is black color on the tooth a property?
A black color on the tooth is a sign of the disease. But in this case there will be no pain. Then it starts to itch little by little and you will feel pain when it develops like a hole and expands. So after tooth cavity, tooth decay does not occur. Cavities start to occur before tooth decay occurs. So after brushing your teeth, stand in front of the mirror and observe if there is any black color on the lower and upper teeth.
What are the symptoms of tooth decay?
A tooth is made up of three layers. The first layer of these is Enamel. The second layer is called Dentin. The third layer is Pulp veins.
A small brown or black spot on the top of the tooth when it is in the first layer. This is the first sign of enamel damage.
When the second layer is affected, it is erosive and itchy in the tooth.
Then you can know that the tooth has reached the second layer.
Even then, if you don’t pay attention, you will get pain when the hole goes deep and affects the root of the third layer. Then you will feel the tooth decay very well.
Can tooth decay be prevented?
Tooth decay affects all three layers of the tooth. But it can be prevented if you consult a doctor with symptoms when it affects the first and second layers of teeth. Dental fillings can be fixed. Root canal treatment is required if the caries extends beyond the third layer. So tooth decay causes pain. The problem is to wait until then and then see a doctor.
Tooth decay is a serious cause of not having to go to the doctor because there is no pain.
Can tooth loss be prevented by dental caries?
Tooth decay can definitely be prevented. In general, it is necessary to consult a doctor immediately for treatment of flu-like conditions. But in terms of dental treatment, the cause of tooth decay is negligence. A tooth decay can take up to 2 to 4 years. Don’t wait until there is no pain. Because until 30 years ago, if it was a pain, they would remove the tooth. Now there are many modern remedies for dental treatment. So the tooth can be saved even if there is as much caries as possible. But only if the tooth has gone all the way to the root and caused too much damage, the tooth needs to be extracted. This applies not only to adults but also to children.
Can tooth decay be prevented?
