The tragic death of a woman who went to count votes in Thattanur area of Ariyalur district has caused great sadness in the area.
The voting machines in the Chidambaram parliamentary constituency are kept at the counting center of Thatthanur Meenakshi Ramasamy College. Officials from various departments including the police and revenue department are working in this centre.
Rajeshwari, who is a village assistant in Venban Kondan East Revenue Village, was working in this centre. He suffered from a health condition last night. The officers who worked with Rajeshwari immediately took him to a nearby private hospital.
But despite being given first aid treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case and are investigating. Rajeshwari’s body was recovered and sent to Ariyalur Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
