4The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, P. Nandalal Weerasinghe has made a request to the public.
The governor made this request at a special press conference held at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (24).
The announcement of the fourth policy interest rate changes conducted by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka was discussed in this press conference. As the policy interest rates are reduced, the Governor has urged the financial institutions to reduce the interest rates while providing credit facilities.
The governor also said that the central bank is not ready to regulate banking and finance in order to reduce interest rates.
