DMK Worker Sacked From Party Over Arrested In Drug Smuggling Case

Drug sales and trafficking continues to increase across the country. The Narcotics Control Unit is taking serious action to prevent this and reduce the movement of narcotics. Seizure of narcotics continues in many places. In this situation, the Central Narcotics Control Unit recovered 5.97 kg of methamphetamine from a person belonging to Ramanathapuram district on the 24th. Three persons were arrested in this connection and intensive investigation was conducted against them.

Acting on the information provided by the trio, the officers searched the godown where the drug was stashed in Sengunram area and seized 954 grams of methamphetamine and 7 lakh rupees in cash. It was revealed that there was an attempt to smuggle drugs to Sri Lanka through Ramanathapuram.

It has been revealed that Ramanathapuram District DMK Minority Team Vice President Syed Ibrahim is one of those arrested. Zafar Sadiq, who was earlier in charge of DMK’s Chennai district team, was arrested in a drug case and is in jail, and the matter has become controversial. Due to this, parties including BJP, AIADMK and AAMK have made strong criticisms on DMK.

In this situation, DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan said in a statement today, “Ramanathapuram District Minority Rights Division Vice President Syed Ibrahim has been acting in a way that defies the party’s control and brings disrepute to the organization, and has been removed as a basic member.

He has been permanently dismissed from all responsibilities. He has also advised the members of the association not to have any contact with him.

Usually only temporary removals are done in DMK. However, the DMK leadership has issued a notice to remove him permanently while he has been arrested in a drug case.
