The height of actors in Tamil cinema is determined by their salary. Whichever actor earns the highest salary in Tamil cinema is accepted as the greatest actor in Tamil.
This is why actors are increasing their salaries so much. Mainly, when the younger actors increase their salary, they cannot agree to perform for less salary.
For example, recently there were rumors that actors like Vijay Sethupathi and Dhanush also increased their salary due to Sivakarthikeyan’s salary hike. Similarly in Tamil cinema, actors like Vijay Rajini are known as top actors.

Thus salary plays an important role in the self-esteem of an actor. But at the same time, it is a bad thing that the maximum amount of money in the production cost of the film is swallowed by the salary.
Thus, even if a film is made with a budget of 250 crores, 200 crores of it goes as salary. Because the film is made with the remaining 50 crores, the film is not a quality film.
Mammootty has been a game changer for all this. RK Selvamani had recently talked about working with actor Mammootty in an interview. In it he says Mammootty is a very calm person.

He would also bring food for him himself, Mammootty paid 25 lakhs to act in a political film. After that he acted in a Malayalam movie.
