A government bus going from Coimbatore to Kovilpatti overturned on the Virudhunagar-Chatur road near Akkararpatti Bridge, injuring 39 people including 24 men, 8 women and 7 children, while a woman from Coimbatore died due to treatment. Muruga Bhupathi (36) from Palani, Dindigul district was on the government bus from Coimbatore to Kovilpatti. The driver was driving the bus. More than 40 people including women and children were traveling in the bus.

A tire burst after hitting the retaining wall of the Vachkarapatti Bridge on the Virudhunagar Chatur National Highway early this morning. The bus overturned and crashed.

39 injured, one woman killed:

39 passengers traveling in the bus including 24 men, 8 women and 7 children were injured in the accident. The police and fire department rescued the injured and sent them to Virudhunagar Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The Vachkarapatti police department has registered a case and is investigating the accident.
