Cricket: The T20 World Cup series is underway in the United States. Today the Indian cricket team is playing their first match against Ireland at the New York Cricket Ground. Ireland won the toss and scored only 96 runs at the end of 16 overs.
Andrew Palbirnie scored 5 runs, Captain Paul Stirling scored 2 runs, Lorcan Tucker scored 10 runs, Curtis Camper scored 12 runs, Gareth Delaney scored 26 runs and Joshua Little scored 14 runs. The remaining players were out for single digit runs and scored only 96 runs in 16 overs.
On behalf of the Indian team, Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets, Bumrah and Hardeep Singh took 2 wickets each, Akshar Patel and Mohammad Siraj took 1 wicket each.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were the openers for the Indian team, who came out with a target of 97 runs in 20 overs. Virat Kohli got out after scoring only 1 run in 2.4 overs.
Next, Rishabh Bundy came in and started a relaxed game. Opener Rohit had a brilliant half-century and 52* before pulling out due to injury. Then Suryakumar Yadav came in and lost his wicket for just 2 runs.
However, Rishabh Pant on the other side played calmly and took the team to victory. Finally, the Indian team scored 97 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 12.2 overs and won by 8 wickets.
Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 36* until the end. India will face Pakistan on the 9th.
