Modi becomes the Prime Minister for the 3rd time

Modi is set to take office as Prime Minister for the 3rd time after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha General Election was held in 7 phases from April 19th to June 1st across the country. Out of the total 543 constituencies, BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed in Gujarat’s Surat constituency. Elections were also held in other 542 constituencies. In this election, there was a direct contest between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the opposition All India Alliance.

In this case, counting of votes was held across the country yesterday (4). Prime Minister Modi won the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh by a margin of 1.50 lakh votes. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested in 2 constituencies. In this, he won Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh by a margin of 3.90 lakh votes and Wayanad constituency in Kerala by a margin of 3.64 lakh.

With the support of 272 MPs needed to form the government at the Centre, the ruling BJP did not get an absolute majority on its own. India Alliance’s resounding victory in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra is a setback for the BJP. In West Bengal too, BJP did not get as much success as expected.

However, BJP has won significant seats in Odisha, Telangana and Karnataka. Actor Suresh Gopi, who contested on behalf of the BJP in Kerala’s Thrissur constituency, won by a margin of 74,000 votes.

In this situation, the BJP is forming the government for the 3rd time at the center with the support of the alliance parties Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam and Nitish Kumar’s United Janata Dal. Modi is going to take office for the 3rd time as the Prime Minister. It is said that the swearing-in ceremony is likely to be held on the 9th at the President’s House.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the All India Alliance are trying hard behind the scenes to drag down the Janata Dal United (JDU). However, the JDU has categorically stated that it will not join the India alliance.

In the new government, it is said that Nitish Kumar will be given the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Chandrababu Naidu will be given the post of National Democratic Alliance Coordinator.

Prime Minister Modi has posted on the social network that ‘I bow to the people who voted for the BJP alliance to form the government for the 3rd consecutive term in Madhya Pradesh’.
