Mini Cooper S: Exterior
The front features circular headlamps with sans bezels. A large octagonal grille is also provided. The exterior is designed without chrome. Plastic cladding is provided on the wheel arches.
The taillights have been completely redesigned. The exterior has a minimalistic design throughout. 17-inch wheels are offered as standard. 18-inch wheels are available as an option.
Mini Cooper S: Interior and amenities
The interior of the Cooper S hatchback model has also been given a minimalistic design. There is no instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. The dashboard features a 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen display.
Apart from this, the technical facilities like heads-up display, electrically adjustable front seats, massaging facility on the driver’s seat, ambient lighting, Harmon Garden sound system and connected car tech are also provided.
For safety, six airbags, ADAS 1 suite and electronic parking brake are provided in this Cooper S model.
Mini Cooper S: Powertrain
The Cooper S model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with four cylinders that churns out 204hp of power and 300Nm of torque. This is 26hp more power and 20Nm more torque than the previous Cooper model.
The front wheel drive is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Paddle shifters are not provided for manual gear control. Mini claims that this car can reach 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds.
Mini Cooper S: Price and Competitors
Mini has launched the updated fourth-generation Cooper S model in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 44.90 lakh. A two-door premium hatchback model, it has no direct competitors in India. Its first competitor is its electric version, which will be launched later this year.
As for its electric form, it must be thought that the electric model is also built on the same platform as this car. It will be built on an all-new, all-new platform for electric cars. But expect the look and name alone to come with the Cooper moniker.
