The Department of Meteorology has predicted that it is expected to rain several times in the Upper, Sabaragamuwa and North-West provinces of the country and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (10).
Uva Province, Amparai and Batticaloa districts may experience rain or thundershowers at some places during the evening or night.
There is a possibility of strong wind blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour from time to time in the western slopes of the central highlands and in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Ambandottai and Monarakala districts.
Temporarily gusty winds may also occur in those areas during thunderstorms.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the damage caused by the effects of lightning and strong winds.
