Opening of Vaigai Dam .. Flood warning for coastal people of 4 districts.!

Chennai: Due to the release of water from the Vaigai Dam for irrigation, a flood warning has been issued for the people along the Vaigai River in 4 districts.

A total of 376 million cubic feet of water will be released from Vaigai Dam for four days from today to the 19th for the irrigation needs of Sivagangai district.

Accordingly, due to the release of 1,500 cubic feet of water per second, a flood warning has been issued to the coastal people of 4 districts namely Theni, Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai. Due to this, the Public Works Department has advised that no one should go down to take a bath in the Vaigai River.

Meanwhile, the water level of Mullai Periyar Dam has risen from 114 feet to 115 feet due to heavy rains for the past few days. In this case, 100 cubic feet of water has been released from the dam only for the drinking water needs of the people of Theni district.
