The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance bagged 292 seats and the Congress-led India Alliance bagged 234 seats. BJP alone won 240 seats.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP came to power with a single majority. Now there is a situation to form a coalition government with parties including United Janata Dal and Telugu Desam Party. At the same time, efforts were made to bring these two parties into the India alliance, and confusion continued as to who would form the government.

In this tense political environment, a consultative meeting of the parties in the National Democratic Alliance was held today at Prime Minister Modi’s residence in Delhi. Alliance party leaders including Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Kumaraswamy, Pawan Kalyan were present. In it, important suggestions have been made regarding the formation of the government.

The meeting passed a resolution unanimously electing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance. The resolution has been signed by the leaders of 21 parties belonging to the alliance. Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu have also given letters of support for BJP to form the government. Similarly, 10 independents and MPs from smaller parties have also extended their support to the BJP, according to reports.

Chandrababu Naidu, who met the media after the meeting, said, “The National Democratic Alliance contested the Lok Sabha elections together. We will form a government under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” he said.

The leaders of the National Democratic Alliance will meet the President on June 7. The next day on June 8, Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers will also be sworn in.
