Railway unions call off strike

33After discussions with the Transport Minister, the railway unions have decided to call off the strike.

A discussion between the railway employees involved in the strike and Minister Bandula Gunawardena was held at the Ministry of Transport this (10) afternoon.

Meanwhile, the allegations of the striking train drivers were explained in a press conference.

However, Additional General Manager (Administration) of the Railway Department, Mrs. Kusalani de Silva said that the boycott was done deliberately to cause inconvenience to the public and the government.

He also said that disciplinary action should be taken against those involved in such activities.
