Famous political commentator Chavku Shankar was arrested on May 14th by the Coimbatore Cybercrime Police in Theni for allegedly defaming top police officials and making sexist comments about women policemen in an interview to Red Fix YouTube channel.
Chavku Shankar has been lodged in Puzhal Jail on the court order in this case. However, Chavku Shankar has been granted bail in the Kundas case and the Karur money laundering case. He is still in jail for other cases.
In this case, the investigation of the case of slandering female constables and high police officers was going on in Coimbatore 4th Criminal Court. In this situation, a bail application was filed on behalf of Chavku Shankar. The petition came up for hearing today. Judge Saravanababu, who heard the petition, granted bail to Shankar with conditions.
