The rule is that an election should be held within six months from the day a constituency falls vacant. However, the announcement regarding the by-elections to the assembly was not released along with the Lok Sabha elections. In this context, it has been announced that the by-election for the Vikravandi assembly constituency will be held on July 10.

In the notification issued by the Election Commission in this regard, “The notification regarding the by-election of Vikravandi assembly constituency will be released on June 14. 21st is the last day to file nominations. The nomination will be considered on 24th. 26th is the last date for withdrawal of nomination. By-elections will be held on July 10. “The votes will be counted and the results will be announced on July 13,” it said.

The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections across the country concluded on June 1. With the elections not even a few days away, the next election fever has started in Tamil Nadu. With 3 days left to start filing nominations, the focus of political parties has shifted towards the mid-term elections.

It has been reported that Ponmudi is making efforts to field his son Gautamashigamani as a candidate on behalf of DMK. AIADMK will announce CV Shanmugam as its chief candidate.

It is said that the BJP alliance has considerable influence in the Vikrawandi area and may express interest in contesting the BMC by-elections. It is said that Naam Tamil Party can also contest here. As a result, it is expected that there will be a four-cornered competition in Vikravandi.
