When will Modi take office as Prime Minister? What happens next?

The consultative meeting of the National Democratic Alliance parties is being held today in the central hall of the Parliament.

Lok Sabha election results were announced on June 4 and nobody got a majority. BJP won 240 seats against a requirement of 272 seats for majority. Congress won 99 seats. Samajwadi Party won 37 seats, Trinamool Congress 29 seats and DMK 22 seats. Telugu Desam won 16 seats and United Janata Dal won 12 seats.

The parties in the National Democratic Alliance have jointly won 293 seats, so the coalition government will be formed at the centre.

The leaders of the alliance parties presented the letters of support for the formation of the BJP coalition government on June 5.

In this context, the consultative meeting of the National Democratic Alliance parties is being held today in the central hall of the Parliament. Leaders of alliance parties including Telugu Desam and United Janata Dal will participate. In this, Narendra Modi is going to be unanimously elected as the chairman of the Lok Sabha committee of this coalition party.
Following this, Modi meets President Draupadi Murmu, gives him a list of supporting MPs and claims the right to form the government.

The BJP coalition government will be sworn in at a simple ceremony at the President’s House on Sunday, June 9 at 6 p.m.

Narendra Modi is going to take office as the Prime Minister for the 3rd time in a row. It seems that important ministers will also take oath with him. Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony at the President’s House are in full swing. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has postponed his swearing-in ceremony to June 12 for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nepal Prime Minister Prasanda, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jagnath and Bhutan Prime Minister Dashoshering Topke have been invited to participate in the swearing-in ceremony.
