50During the period of import restrictions, 44,430 vehicles have been distributed to the market, said Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
The Minister of State mentioned this during a discussion held at the Finance Ministry with a group of local auto manufacturers.
The state minister pointed out that among them were 38,144 motorcycles and 6,286 cars.
During this, the granting of permission for vehicle import has been discussed in depth.
In this meeting, local auto manufacturers have insisted on focusing on their business when import restrictions are eased.
However, Minister of State Ranjith Siambalapitiya noted that the government continues to support local businesses to strengthen them.
