Ban on wearing hijab; A teacher who resigned from her job

Sanjita Khader, a teacher who has been working at LJD Law College in Kolkata for about three years, has resigned from her job. She alleged that the college management told her not to wear hijab to work.

LJD Law College is a private college. Operated under Calcutta University. It seems that the college management told Sanjita Kadar, who was working in this college, not to wear hijab to work after May 31. He resigned from his post on June 5.

He resigned from his job saying that the order of the college management committee hurt his religious sentiments. The college administration has denied the matter when it came to light among the people. He also said that he contacted Sanjita and told her that there is no ban on covering her head with a cloth in the workplace.

The college management has sent an email to him in this regard. He has also confirmed that. “The college administration emailed me on Monday. I have to consider the decision on this. But I did not go to work on Tuesday,” he said.

We will review the teachers’ attire at regular intervals in that email. However, the college administration said that there is no ban on wearing a tupatta or any other cloth on the head while taking classes.
