LTamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi in November 2023 gave permission to prosecute former AIADMK ministers PV Ramana and C Vijayabaskar in connection with the Gutka scam, a year after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought permission.
On September 12, 2022, the state government forwarded the CBI’s request to the Governor seeking permission to prosecute Ramana and Vijaya Bhaskar.
The then DGP of the police department is also accused in this matter. Gutka trader Madhav Rao, police officer Pandian and food safety officer Senthil Murugan have already been arrested in the case.
The case is pending in an extra special court. In this case, C. Vijaya Bhaskar, MP on Gutka case against PV Ramana. It has been recommended to transfer cases against MLAs to a special court.
