Senior Citizens Allowances Not Stopped – oneindias

The Welfare Benefits Board has declared that the reports that the benefits to senior citizens will be stopped while the Aswesuma welfare scheme is being implemented are untrue.

In May 2024, the amount required to disburse payments is around Rs. 1,518 million funds have been sent to the district secretariats.

The Board of Welfare Benefits has also advised that the payment of allowances to senior citizens will be made in the usual manner at the Divisional Secretariats after the second week of June despite the delay in disbursement due to technical reasons.

Similarly, the council has announced that the payment for the month of June will be given in the same month and the work of depositing the money in the appropriate bank accounts under the Ashwesuma payment structure has been started.

Meanwhile, the Welfare Benefits Council has also announced that this allowance will be given to senior citizens above 70 years of age from the families currently receiving Aswesuma welfare amount.
