T20 WC 2024: Afghanistan beat New Zealand by 84 runs: Rashid, Farooqui Abaram

New Zealand and Afghanistan played in the ‘Group – C’ match of the ongoing T20 World Cup series. Afghanistan won by 84 runs. The team’s bowling was amazing.

Afghanistan batted first after losing the toss in the match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The team scored 159 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Afghanistan openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz put on a 103-run partnership for the first wicket. Ibrahim Zadran, dismissed for 44 runs.

Asmadullah was out for 22 runs. Nabi, Rashid and Gulbuddin failed to fast. Gurbaz got out with 80 runs off 56 balls. The New Zealand team performed poorly while fielding.

New Zealand chased down the target of 160 runs. Newsy lost wickets at regular intervals from the start. Finn Allen was dismissed on the first ball of the innings. Conway, Daryl Mitchell, captain Kane Williamson, Mark Chapman, Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry were all out. The team failed to form a proper partnership. The reason is because the Afghanistan bowlers bowled well.

Captain Rashid Khan bowled 4 overs and scored 17 runs and took 4 wickets. Fazalhaq Farooqi took 4 wickets. He took 3 wickets in powerplay overs. Muhammad Nabi took 2 wickets. New Zealand lost all wickets for 75 runs in 15.2 overs. Afghanistan won by 84 runs. This is Afghanistan’s first win against New Zealand in international T20 cricket.

With this win, Afghanistan is at the top of the points table with two wins in ‘Group C’ which includes West Indies, Uganda, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
