The protest of the Northern Province government drivers continues for the 4th day

The Northern Province Government Drivers Association protested in front of the Northern Province Chief Secretary’s office in Jaffna Kaithadi today (06) for the 4th consecutive day.

Last year, the Deputy Chief Secretary had requested the application for the transfer of drivers, which had been banned for 5 years in the Northern Province, and the transfer list had also been published.

The transfer was suspended after the governor’s request.

Disappointed by this, the government drivers decided to go on strike last February.

Subsequently, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Secretary had given a written assurance that the transfer, which had been suspended, would be implemented from June 1.

As the transfer has not been implemented till the specified date, the Government Drivers Association has announced that they will continue the protest and are participating in the protest.
