Similarly, Sivasamy Velumani from AIADMK and Vijayaseelan from Tamil State Congress contested in this constituency.

All these election results were announced yesterday. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi won by getting 5 lakh 40 thousand 729 votes. Kanimozhi, the daughter of an artist and the younger sister of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, contested the constituency, making the constituency a closely watched one for the people of Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK candidate contested against the DMK who got 5 lakh 40 thousand votes and lost by getting 1 lakh 47 thousand 991 votes. The candidate who contested on behalf of Tamaka got 1 lakh 22 thousand 380 votes and lost. Similarly, the candidate who contested on behalf of Naam Tamil Party got 1 lakh 20 thousand 300 votes.
Vote difference
With this, Kanimozhi won by a margin of 3 lakh 92 thousand 738 votes. All the candidates who contested against Kanimozhi Karunanidhi lost their deposits. Also, last time he contested in Tuticorin and won by a margin of 3.47 lakh votes.
The only candidate
This time he has won by a margin of 3,92,738 votes compared to the last election. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi was the only candidate who got 72.65 percent vote margin over the other candidate in Thoothukudi constituency. It is also noteworthy that NOTA got 9 thousand 806 votes in this election.
