The candidate who contested on behalf of Tamaka got 1 lakh 22 thousand 380 votes and lost. Similarly, the candidate who contested on behalf of Naam Tamil Party got 1 lakh 20 thousand 300 votes.

With this, Kanimozhi won by a margin of 3 lakh 92 thousand 738 votes. All the candidates who contested against Kanimozhi Karunanidhi lost their deposits. Also, last time he contested in Tuticorin and won by a margin of 3.47 lakh votes.
